B.Sc. Nursing Programme

The B.Sc. Nursing programme aims at preparing competent graduate who can function independently or as members of health teams in providing holistic nursing care to individuals and groups at various levels of prevention, function in leadership positions in managing client care in the hospital as well as the community care settings, teach in nursing programs and other related programs and participate in research activities.

PROGRAM AIM:

The B.Sc. Nursing programme aims at preparing competent graduate nurses who can function independently or as members of health teams in providing holistic nursing care to individuals and groups at various levels of prevention (primordial to tertiary level) function in leadership positions in managing client care in the hospital as well as the community care settings, teach in nursing programs and other related programs and participate in research activities.

INTENDED LEARNING OUTCOME OF STUDENTS

On completion of this programme, the students will be able to:

1. Utilize sound knowledge in planning and providing comprehensive care to the clients.

2. Communicate effectively with individuals and groups in different settings.

3. Carry out diagnostic and therapeutic nursing measures competently.

4. Provide nursing care to clients with different health problems competently.

5. Use nursing process in providing individualized nursing care.

6. Take leadership role in planning, directing, supervising and evaluating nursing care activities.

7. Demonstrate effective teaching skills in educating individuals and groups.

8. Demonstrate understanding of the socio-cultural beliefs and practices, which influence individuals' responses to health and illness.

9. Utilize principles of primary health care in planning activities for the maintenance of health of people.

10. Participate in research activities for the promotion and maintenance of health and well being of the people.

11. Demonstrate positive attitude in all aspects of professional relationships.

12. Take responsibility to seek new knowledge for personal and professional growth

PROGRAMME REQUIREMENT FOR ADMISSION AND GRADUATION

Eligibility for Admission:

In order to be eligible for acceptance into the B. Sc. Nursing programme, the candidate must:

1. Have passed the intermediate of science or equivalent programme with biology by securing at least 50% marks in aggregate.

2. Be female candidate.

3. Be within 25 years of age.

4. Be physically and mentally healthy.

5. Qualify the entrance examination conducted by IOM as for other bachelor level programmes.

Eligibility for Graduation:

In order to be eligible for graduation from the B. Sc. Nursing programme the student

1. Must complete the academic requirements of the programme as specified in the curriculum

2. Must not be absent without prior valid notice and must attend at least 70% of the theoretical and 90% of the clinical or field hours.

3. Must carry at least 50% marks in theory courses and 60% marks in clinical courses both in the internal assessment and final examination.

4. Must pass the internal assessment to be eligible for final examination in each academic year.
